About This Role:

Kansas State University Department of Grain Science and Industry is seeking a motivated, independent, and organized Research Assistant to conduct wheat quality and flour & dough tests, manage, and maintain lab equipment/instruments, train and supervise students and lab users, conduct research and fee-for-service projects, collect, and analyze data, prepare report, and perform other duties as requested by the PI. This is a full time, benefits eligible position for 12 months with continuation contingent on the continued funding, satisfactory performance, and the need for the services.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Grain Science, Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or relevant disciplines.
  • Experience in experimental milling, NIR, mixograph, farinograph, Mixolab, alveograph, falling number RVA, glutomatic, texture analyzer, test baking.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with grain, flour & dough testing.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to conduct scholarly research and publish scientific papers.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Ability to communicate in English
