Job Description

This role handles all maintenance needs with equipment or facilities issues, while maintaining a preventive maintenance program and resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns. Tasks will be assigned and will include scheduled preventative maintenance, housekeeping, safety checks and responding to immediate issues within the warehouse and offices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with tasks as directed for the purpose of maintaining facilities and minimizing damage
  • Diagnose, Install, repair, adjust system component parts and facility components as may be required to maintaining facility and equipment
  • Maintains clean condition of tools and/or equipment
  • Report any issues that are safety concerns to Maintenance Lead and immediately address the issue accordingly
  • Complete various preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by Maintenance Lead
  • Operate various types of tools and equipment including forklifts and scrubber
  • Ability to troubleshoot and communicate observations effectively
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
  • Ability to work a split shift and weekends if required to do so
  • Maintain oiling and greasing schedules and assist in the preparation of other preventive programs
  • Monitor inventory of resources to order parts when required for various machines or equipment
  • Communicate any necessary project, repairs or issues that need attention to Maintenance Lead
  • Understand and apply all safety standards for equipment and machinery onsite
  • Work other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to operate forklift equipment and power and hand tools used in skilled trade
  • Ability to handle hazardous materials
  • Must wear appropriate PPE when required
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to easily understand functions of warehouse machinery
  • Background in electrical distribution as well as controls
  • Willing to learn and master new skills (welding, reading schematics etc)
  • Ability to operate a computer and email
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions precisely
  • Able to lift up to 60 pounds
  • Able to adhere to all safety standards including equipment checks before and after shift
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Ability to identify any safety hazards and quickly take action to eliminate or correct them

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required. Some vocational training/certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE

1 year or more experience in a maintenance role in a warehouse environment.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, kneel, push and pull objects; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; operate case erector machinery to meet the needs of each orders specifications and manually erect case containers when needed. In addition, the employee may be required to lift heavy objects, stand or walk for long periods of time, operate mechanical equipment, use power tools, operate forklifts or various riding equipment, work with electric wiring and equipment.
  • Specific vision and hearing abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to focus with eyes, ability to hear and comprehend instructions.
  • Position requires the employee to be able to lift, and/or push objects ranging up to 60 pounds on a very frequent basis.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works closely with moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electric shock.
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • The temperature can and does reach extremes from heat indexes above 90 degrees in the summer to temperatures below 50 degrees in the winter.
  • Dust and dirt can be airborne and at times may impact air quality.
