The Youth Crisis Stabilization Center, a new program within the Johnson County Mental Health Center is pleased to announce the opening of a Youth Crisis Stabilization Clinician (Clinician II). This position requires an applicant to be credentialed with the BSRB with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, Psychology or other Human Services field. This position is responsible for a variety of functions to help support this 24-hour facility providing services for adolescent clients. This position will conduct individual client assessments, treatment plan development, and individual/family therapy services. This position will also work closely with the clinical team of case managers, psychiatrists, service coordinators and direct care staff to meet the individual substance use and mental health needs of the youth. This position will also be responsible for discharge planning and providing recommendations for post discharge treatment services. Our first application review will begin on April 12.

Johnson County has implemented a skill-based pay plan of up to $4200 annually for staff who have obtained licensure by the BSRB at the Clinical Level.

Job Description

This position:

    Conducts comprehensive clinical assessments as a part of the admission process, reviews ongoing provision of services, and/or crisis intervention; identifies individual needs and diagnoses substance use and/or mental health disorders; assesses individual risk for suicide and other safety related concerns; determines the need for medication evaluation and referral; interprets and communicates relevant information to individuals, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Provides psychotherapy and other clinical and therapeutic services for a designated case load of individuals, and families with complex, intensive, or ongoing needs; ensures services provided are consistent with individual plans; initiates and attends individual and/ or group meetings and provides services in a community based setting; organizes and facilitates skill development, clinical, and support groups; responds to emergency or crisis related requests from individuals and/or agencies; arranges for appropriate care and services; reviews/updates diagnosis and makes appropriate recommendations/referrals for continued services in the individuals home community.
  • Completes and submits clinical documentation regarding services provided; evaluates and documents individuals' progress according to measurable goals; reviews and approves documentation and plans of care developed by other staff to ensure services are consistent with the level of care required for each individual's needs; monitors the quality and effectiveness of services provided.
Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Addition Counseling, or other Human Services field and Kansas Behavioral Sciences licensure* at the master's level in the area of focus are required. May require a KS/MO driver's license, depending on department or agency.

*Applicants who meet Kansas licensure requirements may be considered if Kansas licensure is obtained by time of an employment offer and licensure is pending confirmation at the time of employment application.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

Preferred Job Requirements:

Kansas Behavioral Sciences license at the clinical level and one year of experience in the area of focus is preferred.

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
